Hey there fellow dreamers.

Thank you for joining us on a lovely nature walk in Tinley Park, Illinois yesterday!

This is beautiful Centennial Park, and I absolutely love it. It's got a fabulous loop for walkers and runners, plus so many lovely prairie flowers, as well as a creek and a lake - which means many ducks and geese too lol. I enjoyed it so much on our summer 2024 road trip, that I had to come back this year.

About five minutes after our livestream ended a thunderstorm came through. So it was perfect timing, and a brief relief on a very hot summer day to make this walk in the heavy cloud cover, protected somewhat from the sun.

I hope you enjoyed coming along with me and our special guests, and if you missed it live, the replay is linked in the comments down below. My next livestreams will be on the road once again - and unless weather forces me to change things, I'm aiming for Terre Haute, Indiana as well as Chattanooga, Tennessee - this week.

PUBLISHED Wednesday 7.16.25

The stream is back online from Nashville! For anyone who couldn't watch our downtown Nashville live walking tour on Monday as the stream crashed and froze, it's now back up and running.

I was just about to say goodbye to y'all as we were checking out that beautiful fountain, and it totally crashed. I was so sad. But it's back up now in case anybody wants to check it out, and it's not frozen on a one second repeating loop anymore either lol.

I really enjoyed our walk across the Cumberland River on the pedestrian bridge. What a view! That bridge was a first for me, so I'm glad we could do it together. I hope you enjoy walking along with me as we explore an area of town I had never seen before, and I'm already looking forward to our next visit. One day, and one morning, is definitely not enough in this very energetic town...

479) Guana River SAVED - for now...

Sometimes we need to listen to the bonnethead sharks of the world.

Hey there fellow dreamers. This channel is all about our dreams in this world. And one of my dreams has always been to see a sea turtle - out in nature, in the wild. We've seen plenty of nests, but never the actual turtle. I never knew if it would ever actually happen or not. But thanks to you all, it finally happened. I don't know if I'll ever be the same, or if I'll ever live it down lol.

Anyways, thanks for joining me on a walking tour of beautiful downtown St. Augustine, Florida for our motivational Monday livestream! The sun rising over Matanzas Bay is quite a sight to behold, and I must say - a great way to start the week.

We covered a lot of ground together yesterday, both literally and figuratively. And I definitely need to recap here in case you haven't caught the stream yet, because as I mentioned, we covered a lot of ground. Beyond the sunrise itself, here were some of our sights and [12] agenda items:

1) Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, and walk around the exterior of the structure.
2) Fort or Castle ??
3) Low tide birds and creatures
4) Paid Parking kiosks downtown St. Augustine
5) Avenida Menendez / State Route A1A
6) Front of the Best Western, the Hilton, plus a historical marker
7) Front of the brand new Saint Italian Restaurant
6) 'Vacation Mode: ON' = new matching family vacation tees option available in my Merch Shop
7) Discussing potential 'St. Arrrrrgustine' merch lol
8) Setting for my children's book revealed
9) The EXPLORE Act - became law on January 4, 2025. H.R. 6492 - from the 118th Congress (2023-2024). A fabulous update for filming and photography for life in the modern, digital age, and geared specifically toward content creators and social media in general. Previously, filming inside National Parks was not allowed - without a permit, fees, and quite a cumbersome process, with much advance planning.

The EXPLORE Act now allows content creators, and anyone at all of course, to bring the sights and sounds of America's beautiful National Parks to the world much more easily, through social media, without having to go through the permitting process, paying fees, and planning far in advance. Weather, for me, being my biggest concern. I can just imagine actually booking (let's say roughly a month or two in advance) a filming visit, and then a massive Florida thunderstorm ruining the outing. So this just wasn't ideal for me on a personal level to plan a visit to bring this content to my channel in the past.

Personally, I am so excited and happy this law was passed, and I love the law as much as its name. EXPLORE is what we do on this channel. We go on adventures - together.

And now we can add national parks into our content. I believe showcasing the natural beauty of our planet Earth is integral to helping keep our planet safe, clean, and habitable for future generations. Visibility, seeing the sights, hearing the sounds, and learning about the creatures who call that particular place home, helps others appreciate how amazing our natural world really is. And in today's day and age, we do need content creators who are willing to film or photograph National Parks and publish to social media so everyone can continually see, and learn about, the natural world and history around us. And I do think the EXPLORE Act will help us all do just that.

And believe it or not, the greater Jacksonville area has many National Parks to visit! So, we will be adding those into our content library in the near future - another video series. And I can't wait to take you to our first National Park visit.

I will be putting out a Community Poll, and YOU will be deciding what site we visit first together.

10) The final subject was about the Guana River in St. Johns County - and I saved that for the end of the stream after we concluded our walk, because you know I like to talk. If you haven't watched the replay yet, I covered the fact that this Wednesday, May 21st, about 600 acres of state owned land along the beautiful Guana River and in a preserve land trust, was potentially going to be approved as a land swap with a company named Upland LLC, for other land scattered throughout the entire state of Florida.

The good news is that in the middle of the night, again, last night I found out the agenda item was set aside - for now. So the people of St. Johns County, and from much farther away, helped save the Guana River Reserve - for now. I say 'for now' because I am learning, and I remember, that last year when a similar instance (not necessarily a swap, but a potential development) was very close to being allowed to proceed at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine Beach. I then learned that state preserves are not as preserved as I always thought they always would be. And that instance led me to find there was a similar instance 5 years ago, where Guana River was in need of saving. This means, in my opinion, it will need to be saved in the future, once again.

I did go out to the property in question yesterday, and was able to grab some film (from vantage point of the road paralleling the land parcel). I'll definitely get it posted on the channel, just for whatever the future holds for this preserve.

I do not believe this is the last of this matter, and I believe the people of this Earth will need to continually help advocate and protect what remains of our state preserves. This was not private property. This is state owned land in trust to be preserved. And just personally, I do find it ironic that this all happened right when I learned about the EXPLORE Act, as a measure to help bring our beautiful National Parks to more people through the eyes and lenses of content creators. And also ironic as I had planned to tell you yesterday that the setting of my children's book takes place in what I like to call 'Wild Florida' - all the natural wonders of the state's landscape, from the ocean and the beach, to the salt marsh, the intracoastal, the swamps, the creeks and waterways, the St. Johns River, and into downtown Jacksonville.

11) Lastly, as we were discussing our beautiful planet Earth, and the potential habitat loss for alligators, turtles, snakes, birds, and many more creatures... We were then greeted by more creatures. And yes, it was a shark who came to say hello to us as I was ending our stream. I firmly believe this shark wanted to add his input on the subject matter at hand.

Sometimes, I've learned, Earth's wild creatures are much smarter than we tend to give them credit. And sometimes, we need to listen more to the bonnethead sharks, the egrets, the pigeons, the amazing alligators, and the magical sea turtles of this world.

12) And yes, a precious sea turtle came right up to me and said hello after our stream ended yesterday. I'd dreamed of such a moment sincerely for eight years. And this one, I did catch on film.

410) Season's Greetings From St. Augustine, Florida!

Seasons Greetings from St. Augustine, Florida!

As we are continuing to celebrate good tidings and joy all month long on the channel, December happens to be my favorite time of year in the Nation's Oldest City as well.

On this day we focused our walking tour on St. George Street and the Plaza de la Constitucion. This is one of the main areas to see the lights during the Nights of Lights, and also where the town Christmas tree is located. Also, St. George Street houses many of the most popular shops and restaurants, where visitors will frequent throughout this month and the entire festive season.

And while we were checking out the Plaza, we came across quite a surprise... Three little pigs in a buggy.

Yes, you read that right, lol.

In fact, these pigs were in the middle of an Instagram photo shoot when I stumbled upon them. They even had holiday light bulbs lit up on their heads. They were munching on their treats, with smiles as big as the Christmas tree. Temptation was too much, and I asked if I could pet them. Their owner said yes, and also showed me their Instagram so that I could share with you. The pigs are known as Prissy_Pig, in case you'd like to follow them on Instagram. Also, it just happened to be Pop's 11th birthday, the day prior.

I ended up seeing these adorable little pigs a few more times throughout that morning, and you know something? Each time I saw them, the pigs were being fed an abundance of treats. It's nice to know that Prissy, Pop, and the rest of the family are enjoying all the good things about the holidays, including the sweets.

Let me know - Have you ever run into a buggy full of little pigs in a park plaza, eating sweets, light bulbs flashing their heads, as they sit under a Christmas tree?

408) Cheers, Coffee, & Good Tidings - At Amelia Island Coffee

Cheers, coffee, and good tidings - are all found at Amelia Island Coffee.

This fabulous coffee shop, located right downtown Fernandina Beach, Florida on Amelia Island, is a lovely gathering spot in town, and I always truly enjoy coming here.

I love the location, because it's right in the middle of all the best shops and restaurants, and happens to be directly next to a Christmas tree adorned with white starfish garland. There are plenty of benches to find seating, and actually, in my own mind and imagination, this is the unofficial gathering spot for the entire town.

By sitting outside here, I can hear the sounds of bells ringing, I can see an endless amount of dogs with wagging tails out on their morning walks. I can glance down at the waterfront to see the boats arriving and departing the shoreline. And, if I'm extra lucky, I'll also catch a freight train, traveling slowly, straight past the town Christmas tree.

On this December morning I had a large hot latte, and their delicious blueberry muffin of course, while Bryan had an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. And while you can sit inside as well, I always see lots of people taking grab-n-go to sit down by the water with their food and drinks. And even though it was so cold, we did just that.

So come for the coffee, stay for the breakfast. Grab a chair, or a bench outside, and watch the world - and the boats - go by.

382) Vlogmas: Deck The Chairs 2024 - Daytime Display Walking Tour - Jax Beach, Florida 11.30.24

Join me for a live walking tour of the 2024 Deck The Chairs holiday display in downtown Jacksonville Beach, Florida. This annual tradition at the beach is set up all across the lawn at the Seawalk Pavilion. The display is lit nightly with music, concessions for sale, and is completely free to attend - no entry ticket is required.

Today also happens to mark the final day of the 2024 Hurricane Season! So, needless to say, we will be celebrating this momentous occasion and saying goodbye to all that is and was for 2024.

I especially love that, during this time of year, just simply going for a morning walk along 1st Street, I can see the fun and festive holiday decorations. The sight of this display definitely brings me back in time to when I first moved down here to Florida, and this was the first sign of Christmas here at the beach for me.

Today we’ll be checking out each of the lifeguard chair displays and who their associated sponsor or business/organization is hosting each chair. This event runs nightly starting the day before Thanksgiving, all the way through New Years Day 2025.

376) Walking Tour of Spanish Street and Treasury Street in St. Augustine, Florida

We certainly were treated with a surprise toward the very end of yesterday's live stream in St. Augustine, Florida! In case you missed Thursday's walking tour, definitely go ahead and check this one out. And share out the stream with others who may want to go on an adventure together.

A lot of ground was covered yesterday, and we had a fabulous time doing it. Christmas has officially arrived in historic downtown St. Augustine, and it was so lovely to see it. This town really knows how to go all out for the holidays and I am here for it lol.

All the lights, garland, wreaths, and ornaments are being displayed throughout the town. The tree is up in the Plaza. And we even saw the main man himself hanging out at various locations throughout town. It's important to keep your wish list handy when in St. Augustine, because you never know where and when Santa Claus will appear there.

Plus, the 31st Annual St. Augustine Nights of Lights officially begins tomorrow! (Saturday, November 23, 2024 through January 26, 2025) And you can see the lights by boat, or you can see them by trolley. Ding, Ding! And lastly, you can see the lights by simply walking around town and soaking in all the magic on foot.

On this walk we started with sunrise on the Matanzas River, walked the lower level of the Castillo de San Marco exterior, made our way over to the Perky Pelican Christmas Shoppe - to show the distance between the Christmas store and the rest of the downtown. And then we walked down the entirety of Spanish Street and Treasury Street, adding two streets to our list of walking tours on this day! Some parts of both those streets were new to me as well so it was really exciting to see some of the inns and beautiful old homes along the way.

But at the end of our walk there was an unanticipated and special surprise, so definitely go check it out if you haven't caught the replay yet. I must say there's always something special, or wild, going on in Florida, and this day was no exception. You never know when you may run into a pirate ship either!

371) A Jolly Holiday to all from Jarboe Park!

A Jolly Holiday to all from Jarboe Park!

Thanks for joining me yesterday at this fabulous park in Neptune Beach, Florida!

Jarboe Park has quite a lot going for it - there's a great walking trail loop, a lake with a fountain, a community center, volleyball, tennis and basketball courts, plus multiple playgrounds for children of various ages. Also, they've even got an outdoor fitness station set along the trail. The butterfly garden in the center of the park is so pretty. And after our livestream ended I even saw a bunch of butterflies flying around it!

But, my favorite part may have been walking through the community garden. I haven't really explored a community garden in many years. The last one I remember being up in Naperville, Illinois many years ago. I love the concept, and really enjoyed seeing all the different plots and variety of plantings.

Finally, all the birds and ducks have quite a special home there, and really seem to enjoy the fountain as much as I enjoyed listening to it.

Do you enjoy watching the birds swim and the butterflies fly, as they are seemingly unaware of all that goes on in the human world around them?

Good morning fellow dreamers. Join me this Friday morning for a stroll through beautiful Jarboe Park in Neptune Beach, Florida.

Jarboe Park has a lovely walking trail, a lake, and a community center. There's also a very popular community garden, plus many sports amenities such as pickleball, tennis, and volleyball courts. Let’s explore this park by walking a loop around the complex this morning and see what the garden looks like, and hopefully see a bunch of ducks and geese while we’re at it.

368) My First Visit to Historic Avondale - in Jacksonville, Florida

Our first visit to Avondale!

Thanks so much for exploring Jacksonville, Florida's historic Avondale neighborhood with me yesterday.

This was the first time we live streamed in this area of town, as well as my first time ever spending any length of time in this beautiful place.

Upon entering the business district I was immediately struck with this bright and impactful mural. I love the expression of the trees, as trees here in the South are so bold and daring. I think the artist who painted these trees captured their lovely story so well. This mural was on the north side of St. Johns Avenue - keep in mind we will cover the south side of the street in detail in a future livestream.

I wanted to bring you to Avondale this week, just before the official "Christmas In Avondale" event that will be taking place next month. In the hopes it may help plan your future visit if you are thinking of attending.

367) Autumn in Avondale - The Shoppes of Avondale Walking Tour Jax FL 11.13.24

Good morning fellow dreamers. Join me this Wednesday for a walking tour of the historic Avondale neighborhood in beautiful Jacksonville, Florida.

We’ll start our walk in a local park, and watch the sunrise along the scenic St. Johns River. Then we’ll stroll down St. Johns Avenue to see the shops, restaurants and local businesses that make up The Shoppes of Avondale. And then we’ll end our walking tour at another area park.

There’s quite a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, candy stores, antique shops and other local area businesses in this part of town! And I’m so excited to stroll through this beautiful area of Jacksonville with you today.

364) What A View! At Tide Views Preserve in Atlantic Beach, Florida

Thanks for joining me at Tide Views Preserve in beautiful Atlantic Beach, Florida!

This free preserve sits along the intracoastal waterway, with views of the Atlantic Boulevard bridge, the marsh, and Jacksonville on the mainland side. It's free, has a self-guided walking tour with educational signs explaining some of the wildlife and plant life in the area, and is just so peaceful and serene.

I absolutely love coming here. You never know what you'll see, as certainly no visit is ever quite the same. Come with your lunch or bring your morning coffee, and just soak in all the scenery, and have a quiet moment with yourself out in this lovely natural environment.

358) Yacht Basin Park in Jacksonville, Florida's Historic Riverside Neighborhood

Love Life... At Yacht Basin Park.

This amazing and free park is located along the bank of Willowbranch Creek - just before it flows right into the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida.

I'm so glad to have discovered this quiet little spot, and can't wait to go back again. It was located at the end of our walking tour of Jacksonville's historic Riverside neighborhood. We strolled down Riverside Avenue on Friday, covering areas I haven't live streamed before.

It always amazes me when I find lovely little parks such as this one. It's tucked away at the end of the street, just one property behind the river, and directly along the creek. There are a few designated parking spots, and plenty of benches and places to sit and have your coffee or lunch. There's a gazebo with mosaic tile art all around it, bird baths, and little pathways to explore.

My favorite part of Yacht Basin Park were the trees, including a single, massive live oak tree draping over the park and providing much needed shade. Its branches telling the story of its long life, growing angled downward straight into the ground and then back up toward the sky again, over and over. I always wonder how many hurricanes such a tree had to endure, and survive, in order to take that journey, and grow to such an old age?

I think such a tree must have seen a hard and painful life, protecting this precious little park and all who come to visit. Watching tropical storms and storm surge come right up to it many a time. But I also think this tree must really love its life just the same.

When you look up at a tree, do you see the journey it took, and the life it had to live, in order to be alive in this present moment with you?

Ben's Soft Pretzels being the first, and then there's the very well known Auntie Anne's. This was an Auntie Anne's day, with some pretzel nuggets - to bring home for Genevieve, maybe?

Ben's has a beautiful courtyard situated behind the shop, and Auntie Anne's is located inside the entrance to Pierre's Pub. Both pretzel shops are on the same street, on the same block, within sight of one another. Both serve fresh, hot, buttered pretzels, and both are fabulous. I'll make a point to get Ben's the next time pretzels are on the menu for the day.
