397) Amelia Linen & Wood - on Centre Street in historic downtown Fernandina Beach, Florida

Thanks so much for joining me on Amelia Island in northeast Florida this week! Here's our new nutcracker, on display in our decorated hotel room, before going home.

I would definitely call this trip yet another successful Christmas, holiday themed, and Vlogmas adventure. I've been doing a Christmas getaway each year since living in Florida, and many of them seem to have taken me to Amelia Island. I hope you enjoyed all the charm of this small island as much as I did.

The fact that I came home with a souvenir I'll always cherish makes me even more happy and excited about this little holiday getaway. I purchased this adorable little nutcracker from Amelia Linen & Wood after our livestream ended. He is decked out in a baker's hat, topped with a gingerbread cookie, and holding a rolling pin.

My grandpa was a baker for over 40 years, and I miss him terribly sometimes - especially at this time of year. And my guess is it's because of him that I wanted this little guy to take home with me.

(And speaking of baking, we'll be making homemade candy cane cookies soon for Vlogmas, so I'll be posting the recipe here on the Community page in case you want to prepare and follow along with us.) I hope my Papa is happy that I try to keep the joy of baking alive - to share those moments with others. A joy that he instilled in me over the course of so many years, and oh so very many cookies. I can still picture him in his kitchen, rolling out dough. Flour - everywhere. Christmas movies playing on the television.

I think he would be happy that I try to travel every Christmas season. To see something new, to see a town when it's not its normal self or as it is year round, to see an area all decked out in its holiday finest.

On this beautiful, yet cold, day we toured the north side of Centre Street together in downtown Fernandina Beach. This area is on the National Register of Historic Places, and there is so much history present on every block. I learn something new every time I visit, and I hope you did too.

But mostly, I hope you enjoyed the holiday window displays, the dogs who were served special bones by happy shop owners, the friendly people who greeted us along the way, the starfish decorated Christmas Tree, the frosted window panes that I should never have actually touched lol, and the joy seeing something new and different around every corner.

I already miss Amelia Island and cannot wait to go back once again.
