542) Let's Sail Away! Carnival Elation Embarkation from Jax, FL 10.18.25

Carnival Elation embarkation from JaxPort in Jacksonville, Florida!

Ahoy! Join me as we cross the St. Johns River on the St. Johns River Auto Ferry in beautiful Jacksonville, Florida.

We’ve made this brief crossing many times with our car, but we’ve never followed right behind a cruise ship before! This was quite an experience for me - it was one of those moments where I knew it was not a ‘normal’ occurrence of my everyday life to be seated in my car, on a ferry, with a massive ship right in front of me lol. And then we literally followed directly behind it as we crossed the river.

So, thanks for sharing in this experience with me today. I hope you enjoy this short and sweet ride across the magnificent St. Johns River. We’ve done this before on the channel, and we’ll be certain to do it again.

517) The Anticipation of Autumn...

A season of renewal:

Hey there fellow dreamers,

Thanks for joining me for a fabulous sunrise in Jacksonville Beach, Florida yesterday!

I must admit that while it's officially still summer for the next few weeks, I am most definitely looking forward to fall... And whether that's for the pumpkins, or the sight of brightly colored mums for sale at grocery store entranceways, the scent of apple pies, the taste of sweet candy corns, or delicious hot coffees, and then some - I find myself wanting the season to change, and I'm so more than ready for that change to take affect.

It got me thinking even more, and I realized that seasonal changes can really be quite a gift to us. Just as we celebrate and welcome in the sunrise for a fresh, new day on this beautiful planet Earth, we can also celebrate the seasons changing for a fresh, new perspective, and another brand new start in this big and crazy world. There are so many ways to embrace continuing change in this world, and so many ways to give yourself some grace, and grant yourself another new beginning. Even if that new beginning is just a new day.

And the transition from summer to fall may be some of the biggest transitions each year that we all go through! On top of the weather change, so many of us have a new routine coming along with the autumn. And even if your routine doesn't change with the season, it still may feel like it does, as we all get swept up in the swirling and falling leaves around us. Maybe that's part of the excitement that comes along with embracing the beautiful autumn weather? I don't know - what do you think?

So after our livestream ended and I did some serious bird watching lol, I was just gazing at this awesome sky for some time, and as I sat there, it just felt like fall. Well, I should say it looked like fall to me - it felt like Florida heat to me. Either way, I sat there, and I imagined the autumn ahead of us.

Hey there fellow dreamers,

Thank you to each and every one of you who joined me yesterday for sunrise along the St. Johns River--as we celebrated the launch of "Genevieve's Journey Through Jacksonville" while in downtown Jacksonville! It meant the world to me, and I hope you enjoyed a beautiful start to the day from this wonderful and very special city.

This area along the riverwalk is one of my favorite areas in all of Jacksonville and it's definitely worth a visit. Plus, Friendship Fountain is absolutely one of the nicest and most peaceful spots along the riverfront, and such a calming place to sit and relax for a bit while you're downtown.

Also, don't forget that the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History (MOSH) will be closing by September 1st for a brand new building to be built, and it will be closed for a few years during the construction. You have a few weeks left if you'd like to check out MOSH before the closure - located directly next to Friendship Fountain.

456) My favorite drive in the world... to my favorite place in the world.

Hey there fellow dreamers!

Come along with Genevieve and I on a five hundred mile journey south - as we drive along the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway/S.R. A1A and U.S. Route 1/Overseas Highway.

We made our way from Jacksonville, Florida down to the Southernmost Point of the United States in Key West, Florida... My favorite drive in the world, to my favorite place in the world.

Along the way, we stopped at Bahia Honda State Park for the very first time! This is where you can get up close to some of the original Florida East Coast Railway bridges that are still visible. Built back in the earlier 1900's, I learned that much of what remains of these former tracks is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

One of the most special aspects of this drive to me is simple - it is the scenic view of the ocean waters. The open ocean, the channels, the creeks, the seemingly endless amount of bridges crossed. All the boats out, enjoying the ocean breeze. And while I know there are strong currents out there, it always amazes me to see those currents in motion. Mostly though, it's just the simple act of glancing at the water in the natural scenery, and it's the color of the water that just sends me to Heaven. It's a pure aqua, and crystal clear at the same time. It darkens as the clouds change overhead. And it glistens and sparkles in the hot, afternoon sunshine. It's other-worldly to me, looking out at the vast expanse of open ocean surrounding me. Looking out at the horizon, I can only think of how many stories that are out there, and are yet to be told.

I also share with you many of my favorite spots along the way, including food and drink stops, rest stops (I have rated rest stops my whole life lol), gas stops, hotels, and other sites as well - including the Florida Keys Sculpture Trail. This sculpture trail was another something new for me on this trip, and I include with the video, a link to a map of the Keys with all the sculptures and their locations along the way.

What's amazing to me about us being on these adventures together - with you - on YouTube, is that it was only through the act of actually editing this video that I learned these sculptures even existed. And I've driven this route so many times. So, I can't thank you enough for offering me the opportunity to learn so very much as we go through life's adventures together.

448) Mardi Gras Fun 2025: Picking Up Paczki, Coffee, and a Quick Beach Stop!

Join me this morning in Jacksonville Beach, Florida for Paczki Day 2025! Happy Mardi Gras to all!

Today, my Sheltie and I are pre-ordering paczki to celebrate Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday, we’re grabbing Dunkin’ coffee, and we’re headed back to Cinotti’s Bakery in Jax Beach to pick up our pastries. On the way home we’re stopping at the beautiful beach to say hello to the Atlantic Ocean and check out the scenery.

428) It's cold outside in Florida - the plants are inside the house 1.22.25

It’s cold outside in The Sunshine State. We had to move our plants inside from our porch. I hope they survive… This is truly historic.

Join me and Genevieve Noel as she completes her morning routine. Genevieve waters the plants every single day. But today the plants aren’t in their usual spot. Which made this excited little Sheltie girl just a bit extra excited today.

418) My 44th Birthday in downtown Jacksonville's historic San Marco neighborhood - 12.22.2024

[PUBLISHED SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2024]

Seasons Greetings from San Marco!

Thank you so much for joining me on this lovely December morning for a walk through Jacksonville, Florida's historic San Marco neighborhood. And many thanks for celebrating my 44th birthday with me today.

Plus, we had some special guests joining us today! @rollinwiththenolans

We began with a venti hot latte from Starbucks in the Town Square, then viewed the brand new - and first annual - Christmas Tree trail, which was a very welcome surprise! Then we strolled down through the neighborhood to Landon Park and the butterfly garden, and onward to the banks of the St. Johns River.

San Marco still remains my very favorite area of Jacksonville. And there's nowhere else I'd rather celebrate my birthday at, than in this fabulous part of town... to see their Christmas Tree, and look at the San Marco Lions, with their finest seasonal apparel on. And there's nobody else I'd rather spend my birthday with, than with all of you - our wonderful community of dreamers.

So many thanks for walking alongside me today. Good tidings and cups of cheer are sent your way on this day. Turning 44 truly is a blessing.

After our livestream in San Marco, we went over to Friendship Fountain for their first visit there.

Don't forget to add Friendship Fountain to your must-visit list while in Jax! It's free, and quite a beautiful site.

We got really lucky because we even just happened to randomly see Santa Claus breeze past us on a hoverboard, cruising down the Southbank Riverwalk! I guess he was a on a brief lunch break. Either way, he's definitely back to work at the North Pole today because less than two days remain until Christmas Day.

Enjoy these next few days, and soak in all the joy around us.

382) Vlogmas: Deck The Chairs 2024 - Daytime Display Walking Tour - Jax Beach, Florida 11.30.24

Join me for a live walking tour of the 2024 Deck The Chairs holiday display in downtown Jacksonville Beach, Florida. This annual tradition at the beach is set up all across the lawn at the Seawalk Pavilion. The display is lit nightly with music, concessions for sale, and is completely free to attend - no entry ticket is required.

Today also happens to mark the final day of the 2024 Hurricane Season! So, needless to say, we will be celebrating this momentous occasion and saying goodbye to all that is and was for 2024.

I especially love that, during this time of year, just simply going for a morning walk along 1st Street, I can see the fun and festive holiday decorations. The sight of this display definitely brings me back in time to when I first moved down here to Florida, and this was the first sign of Christmas here at the beach for me.

Today we’ll be checking out each of the lifeguard chair displays and who their associated sponsor or business/organization is hosting each chair. This event runs nightly starting the day before Thanksgiving, all the way through New Years Day 2025.

Join me today on a relaxing stroll through Jacksonville, Florida’s historic Riverside Avondale neighborhood. Soak in all the sights and sounds as we enjoy a leisurely walking tour throughout this lovely area of Jax.

Let’s gaze upon seemingly everyday and random objects… whether that be buildings, leaves, flowers, or a variety of other foliage. Or, maybe we’ll read some banners and signs, press some buttons, feel the wind on our skin, and smile at dogs on their routine outings.

373) Deck The Chairs Set Up Has Begun! Jacksonville Beach, Florida 11.18.24

Some of us deck the halls… Jax Beach Decks The Chairs.

Every year here in Florida, I get really excited when the Deck the Chairs display is brought over to the SeaWalk Pavilion in downtown Jacksonville Beach. To me, seeing the display being built and brought to life along the oceanfront, really makes me feel that the holidays are nearly here.

By next week this display will be fully set up, and laughter, music, and the feeling of holiday community togetherness will be here once again. There will be hot chocolate, Dunkin Munchkins, ornaments, and candy canes. There will be music. And there will be beautiful lights once more… all set up on lifeguard chairs!

Deck the Chairs is the first Christmas holiday decoration display in Florida that I saw after moving down here back in 2017. So each year when I see it, I am brought back to my first Christmas as a Floridian, where I was trying to find every single holiday lights display in town that I could, having never seen any of it before. Everything was new to me. And there was so much excitement, as well as simple curiosity.

Now, more than seven and half years later, living here at the beach, Deck the Chairs is still always one of the first signs of the upcoming holidays. I’m still just as excited when I see it being set up, and I still look forward to opening night.

If you've never seen Deck the Chairs, I’m hoping if you are in Jax this year, you can get out and see the lights. But if you’re not here, we’ll still be able to enjoy it together here on YouTube. Happy Holidays!

Hey there fellow dreamers. Join me this beautiful morning in Jacksonville, Florida’s historic Riverside neighborhood. I was taking a walk through town, and I ended up meeting some adorable ducks along the way. These precious little creatures were just chilling’ and hanging out with one another, probably just after having their morning coffee.

361) The Results of Donut Decision Day 2024 - Bean's Best Bakery Blowout, Baby!

The very official and totally serious Donut Decision Day 2024 is in the history books. Thanks to everyone who joined me, voted for their favorite donut shop, and shared out the stream so others could vote too!

My main goal in hosting this event is in the belief that we, as humans, can all come together over a shared meal together. Whether that's a simple cup of coffee, a fabulous holiday dinner feast around a massive table, pizza night in front of the television watching a movie, Publix subs at the beach, and even a dozen donuts or so.

I would call yesterday a success for the mere fact that we were together and shared a laugh. It's the simple things in life.

I completed this exact same event four years ago in 2020, by myself and on my blog only at the time - so this was our first time live-streaming the event. And it won't be our last.

We will reconvene again four years from now, and we will vote once again. In the meantime, we have a heck of a lot of other donut shops to visit, lots of sugar to wipe off our faces, and a lot of sticky fingers as well.

358) Yacht Basin Park in Jacksonville, Florida's Historic Riverside Neighborhood

Love Life... At Yacht Basin Park.

This amazing and free park is located along the bank of Willowbranch Creek - just before it flows right into the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida.

I'm so glad to have discovered this quiet little spot, and can't wait to go back again. It was located at the end of our walking tour of Jacksonville's historic Riverside neighborhood. We strolled down Riverside Avenue on Friday, covering areas I haven't live streamed before.

It always amazes me when I find lovely little parks such as this one. It's tucked away at the end of the street, just one property behind the river, and directly along the creek. There are a few designated parking spots, and plenty of benches and places to sit and have your coffee or lunch. There's a gazebo with mosaic tile art all around it, bird baths, and little pathways to explore.

My favorite part of Yacht Basin Park were the trees, including a single, massive live oak tree draping over the park and providing much needed shade. Its branches telling the story of its long life, growing angled downward straight into the ground and then back up toward the sky again, over and over. I always wonder how many hurricanes such a tree had to endure, and survive, in order to take that journey, and grow to such an old age?

I think such a tree must have seen a hard and painful life, protecting this precious little park and all who come to visit. Watching tropical storms and storm surge come right up to it many a time. But I also think this tree must really love its life just the same.

When you look up at a tree, do you see the journey it took, and the life it had to live, in order to be alive in this present moment with you?

348) My First Fundraiser - Please Support the American Red Cross For Hurricane Disaster Relief

Hey there fellow dreamers.

Tomorrow's walking tour will be covering the entire width of Jacksonville Beach, Florida - from the intracoastal waterway all the way out to the beach, then back to the intracoastal on the opposite side of the street. The hills are for Helene, and the miles are for Milton.

I will be fundraising for the American Red Cross to help support hurricane disaster relief for those suffering in the aftermath of both of these devastating hurricanes. I have kept these people, all strangers to me, close in my heart. It hurts to know how much damage, destruction, and ultimately loss of life, these storms can bring in their path.

I'm happy to do the tiniest bit I can to help. Please share out this stream with anyone who may be able to contribute a small donation, or who may be interested in simply seeing this beautiful little beach town. Together we can send even a few dollars toward those who have an extremely long road to recovery ahead of them.
