Video 362. Livestream 109. #walkwithme #atlanticbeach #florida ___ Hey There Fellow Dreamers! Thanks for exploring Dutton Island Preserve with me! Located in Atlantic Beach, Florida, this small island - with three miles of hiking trails - was almost destined for development and single family homes. But Walter Dutton sold the land to the City of Atlantic Beach in the late 90’s, so that the beach town could preserve the natural beauty of this little piece of paradise nestled along the intracoastal waterway of the greater Jacksonville, Florida area. It seems that as the modern world keeps growing and changing and developing, I find myself growing as well - to appreciate these nature preserves more and more. Also, I was pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon an Atlantic Beach Heritage Tree together! I never knew there was one here on this tiny island. And, lastly, we also were greeted from afar by a pair of little furry surprises. If you missed the livestream, the replay is linked in the comments down below. The video also has links on the history behind the Atlantic Beach Heritage Trees as well as Dutton Island. So thanks for spending some time with me as we appreciate the natural world around us, and as we see nature’s multitude of different ecosystems attempt to survive and thrive on this ever-changing planet Earth. See you in the next one! Five Points to Riverside Memorial Park.Hey There Fellow Dreamers!! Happy Spring to one and all! We are celebrating the beginning of the spring season today, with an appropriate, seasonally inspired visit to the Riverside Duck Pond in beautiful downtown Jacksonville, Florida. So, I’m taking you on a walking tour of the Five Points neighborhood, and the tour will start at the Riverside Duck Pond and end at the St. Johns River at Riverside Memorial Park. Bagels - phenomenal. *Starbucks on the corner - a definite fav. (Publix is located behind Starbucks). *Riverside Memorial Park - which is situated along the picturesque St. Johns River. We’ll walk a full circle loop of the park including seeing both entrances and the World War One memorial statue, plus the bronze eagle additions. Breathtaking trees, foliage, and flowers abound. Video 331. Livestream 95. #walkwithme #riverside #jacksonville ___ Signs of Spring are everywhere… in beautiful Jacksonville, Florida. The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, the squirrels are running, and the ducks are chatting with each other. I love visiting Riverside, and if you’ve never been, plan to spend at least a few hours there when you go. With tons of shops and restaurants, a theater, a fabulous wine bar (Prospect Five Points), and lots of green space in various parks, you could easily fill an entire afternoon or evening out in just this neighborhood of Jax. So, Wednesday morning we went on a lovely walking tour of Riverside together. We started at the Riverside Duck Pond, strolled through the Five Points neighborhood and its namesake intersection, and ended along the always-shining St. Johns River at Riverside Memorial Park. I really enjoy this park and the old buildings and ancient trees surrounding it. As we were saying goodbye to each other at the end of the livestream, I kept seeing one beautiful flower after another. I was reminded instantly that a fabulous spring day was still ahead of me. The sight of flowers seems to bring hope. Just seeing all the pink florals in various shades, and then some bright white flowers of which I immediately fell in love with, the whole scene just made me so very happy. So thank you for joining me, because I had a blast walking with you. And I do hope you’ll join me on another walk through town very soon. I’ve realized that I’ve taken you to many different areas of downtown at this point, and I really enjoy showing you the many sides of Jax. Plus 'Marshmallow Marsh' new painting!I go to the marsh to seek solace. I leave the marsh invigorated… Most of the time, I love to simply have a lot of fun here on my channel - with you. But also most of the time, I love to just share the natural world that I see around me - with you. So - Hey Fellow Dreamers! Thanks so much for joining me this week at Castaway Island Preserve here in Jacksonville, Florida. If you’re coming to Jax, and looking for a place to see the natural habitat here along the coast, this preserve is definitely one you want to add to your list. It was low tide at the time, but the creatures and critters were still well hidden that morning. I was tending to think even they may still be adjusting from the time change earlier this week? The bugs were definitely awake though, along with the birds. And I was lucky enough to witness a couple cardinals singing in the treetops. I go to the marsh to be at peace with the calmness of the Earth, and to gaze upon the stillness of the water. I could hear the tiniest trickle of the tiniest creek. I could see each ripple after a jumping fish landed in the smooth, reflective waters. In its quietness and stillness, you would never know a living city surrounds this delicate setting. Honestly, this is one of my favorite local preserves here in Jax. It’s not too big to see everything, nor too small, but it’s immensely scenic, and so very peaceful. And it’s that peace of the landscape that can revitalize the soul, and grant a person some continual hope for this world. How can such natural beauty not lead to the growth of an abundance of dreams? Love you, Christine ___ Hey There Fellow Dreamers!! I may go LIVE before the 9:15 am scheduled start time of this livestream. Thanks for joining me today along the lovely and scenic St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville, Florida! We are walking a fabulous one mile stretch of the NorthBank Riverwalk along the riverfront this morning, and we’ll see a CSX freight train along the way as well. In my ongoing quest to take you to each area of the riverwalk, we have now covered many areas of this wonderful walking path LIVE on YouTube, with the exception of areas under construction, and a few other slivers of space I still need to find. I am absolutely LOVING seeing all these sections of the riverwalk with y’all! Let me know what is your favorite section so far? Honestly, I think today’s section is so, so pretty. Nicely done, lots of benches, trees, fitness areas, accessible in many ways from many areas, etc. It’s hard for me to pick. I loved the cycle and pedestrian counter, and my favorite part of the walk was seeing all the locks on the bridge above the railroad tracks! I also really love the Riverside Memorial Park area. But, you let me know what stretch of the pathway you like the best? And, where do I need to go next? Also, I discussed, for a bit, the new information announced yesterday from Universal Orlando Resort! It’s the coldest day of the year in Jacksonville, Florida, folks. It’s roughly 32 degrees, and I’m frozen. But, we’re still walking, so let’s get started. Today, we’re walking around the exterior of Everbank Stadium. It ends up being a 1.09 mile walk - a very large property, indeed. I’ve never been to this stadium before, or at least this close up. So I’m really excited to tour the grounds and check the Home of the Jaguars out! First, we’re going to check out the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Wall, which is housed literally in the parking lot of EverBank Stadium. I’ve heard of this memorial many times, but never saw it. So I’m curious to take a quick look today, but I’m so cold, so it’ll be a quick walk through. Then we’re taking what measures out to be a one mile loop around the exterior property of the Jacksonville Jaguars EverBank Stadium. Let’s set my Apple Watch and go for a walk together along the beautiful St. Johns River. I’ve been captivated by this large body of moving water ever since we moved from Illinois to Jacksonville, Florida back in 2017. I love that I can find dolphins in this water, it always surprises me, to this day. I guess it’s because I certainly never saw a dolphin floating along in the DuPage River in Naperville, Illinois, or the Fox River in St. Charles, Illinois. So, basically, I’m always looking for a way to be able to look at this body of water. And, I’m always searching for dolphins, as well. And with that, today I am taking you on a leisurely stroll from the Lions Club Boat Ramp to the Blue Cypress Fishing Pier. We’ll be walking along a lovely boardwalk, literally right on the shores of the St. Johns Riverbank. The City of Jacksonville skyline is hidden, but peaking out in the distance. There are ships, and tugboats, birds, and sailboats. The air is cold, the wind is brisk, and it’s just about 50 degrees. I’m freezing. But that’s not going to stop me from walking with y’all today. So thanks for joining me. But mostly, I’m concerned about all the crazy weather that spanned nearly the entire country yesterday in some way, shape, or form. We had tornado warnings, and that was pretty scary for me. All ended up fine on our end, thank goodness - but I need to know from you! Is everything ok in your neck of the woods? Or riverbanks? December 1-25 2023Hey Holiday Dreamers!! It’s been a joy of my life to spend time with you on YouTube this December! And I really want to thank you for dreaming alongside me this holiday season 2023! We explored numerous places together, experienced many new special moments together, cooked, baked, unboxed, drank festive non-alcoholic beverages together, traveled, rode an auto ferry, took the car on the beach, had a hotel room tour, I boarded a river cruise for a tour and dinner, St. Nicholas came to visit us, we opened Advent calendars, lit candles, sat by some lovely fireplace yule logs, and much more. And with YouTube Shorts, videos, and 26 live streams during the course of 25 days! I’d say it’s near impossible for me to pick a favorite day of Vlogmas 2023, because I really just love the entire 25 days, of course. But, if I ‘must’ pick something that really stood out to me, I’d say it was the Parade of Trees in Green Cove Springs, Florida! A shocking 225 Christmas Trees decorated in their town square! It was a completely new experience to me, and I was truly shocked with how elaborate the display was. I definitely want to go back next year - on a warmer day - lol. And, not a surprise to me, I especially enjoyed all the food and drink and baking and cooking we did together. I truly believe there’s really something special about good food, shared with great friends... And that’s exactly how I felt with every single cup we shared together, as well as all the special appetizers and cookies. And, it is my hope - that you felt the same way. So, I just wanted to say THANK YOU. Thank you for being a fellow dreamer in this crazy world, and thank you for seeing the goodness in this special time of year, and thank you especially, for being a friend, and spending precious time with me. At the Riverside Memorial Park Along the St. Johns River Downtown JaxGosh, you guys… It’s that time of the year once again. Jeaz - I mean, they do it to us, not once, but twice a year??? Lol. Today we’ve got to ‘fall behind’ - as they say. Tonight, at 2AM. Don’t forget to change your clocks. So let’s do it together y’all. And let me know your thoughts on turning back the clocks. To me - there’s one good thing about it - we gain an hour - but that’s today only. And, that one hour is enough to completely knock me out of my routine, and minor adjustments are needed to get reestablished during the next few days. Dog included. So I’m not really fond of either the spring ahead, or fall behind. However, if I have to choose one, I’ll choose to fall behind any day, only because we gain an hour, that one day out of the year. So, tonight, once again, we are transferring from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time. And I want to take this moment to THANK YOU for spending moments of YOUR time with me, as we traverse through this world we call our home. I love you, Christine P.S. Kiss the Sun Goodnight With Me! The fact that this place is literally called a ‘Duck Pond’ in its formal name… it’s bringing back memories of childhood. I remember my Dad taking me and my sisters to all the area ‘duck ponds’ - as we informally called them - growing up. And here is a park that has the words ‘duck pond’ in its name. I’m amused, folks. I must say that is exactly what attracted me to visit this spot in downtown Jacksonville, located in the Riverside area of town. Bryan spoke to him after our stream ended. The local news media was also on site to interview the boat owner. I’ve linked a news article related to this sailboat washing ashore below. Thanks for waking up the sun with me today! I hope you have a fabulous day ahead of you, and please enjoy this breathtaking sunrise in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The weather is 70 degrees, a high of 80 degrees is forecasted. It’s a tad bit humid, but other than that, the weather is near perfection. We do walk 1.07 miles together - so get out your walking shoes, and let’s go! I was definitely not expecting the sight that awaited us when we crossed over the dunes this morning. To see a sailboat - literally - washed ashore?! It was kind of shocking. I’ve seen a lot of things washed ashore over the years, but never something this large, and this close to me. There’s been a rip current warning out, and definitely some angry waves as well. I always talk about how powerful the ocean can be - and this sight today is a prime example of the sheer power of those beautiful ocean waves. Happy Wednesday and I love you all! Christine During this livestream, I talked about drawing Dante from Coco. Thank you to Chris and Owen of Ear to Ear Magic - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcEiLkBvQZs - for streaming a live Disney Animation class taking place in Animal Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World. And today, I’m actually sharing it LIVE, with YOU! I hope you enjoy my trip across the beautiful and flowing St. Johns River, as viewed from inside the car, and from outside the car. Enjoy the sights and sounds - including the very loud boat horn. And while the pelicans may just be my favorite part of every trip across, please make sure to keep your eye open for dolphins, various birds, massive freight ships, Singleton’s Seafood Shack on the Mayport Village side, and the Sandollar Restaurant on the Fort George Island side of things. Our fare was $8.00 for a weekend trip. Fares are one way. There are bathrooms on both sides of the river, which come in useful, especially if you are far from home, or end up waiting for the ferry for a very long time. There are also picnic tables and a viewing platform/pavilion on either side of the river. And now, I even noticed an Amazon Locker on the Mayport side during this visit! Today I’m celebrating four years of life. I may be 40 years old, but these last four years are what today is all about. May 11th is the anniversary of my discharge from Mayo Clinic’s Pain Rehabilitation Center - located in Jacksonville, Florida. Today... marking four years out. Four times three hundred and sixty five whopping days. Each and every single day being counted and tallied. All adding up to - four years strong - and four years of absolutely killing it at life. You don’t get to that numerical tally by simply blinking and repeating. Or taking a breath in, and a breath out, over and over again. But then again… you actually, and really, do. I would not be the happy, content, at-peace-with-the-world, and God loving person that I am right now and today, if it wasn’t for Mayo, and my time spent there. Because while God saved my life, Mayo Clinic helped give me the momentum to keep going after that. And I’ve rambled on about Mayo in the past quite a few times, so you can go ahead and check all of that out below, if you’re interested in learning more about my experiences at the Clinic: Christine’s Floridian Dreams: ABOUT Bean’s Library #34) Merry Christmas ~ And How To Buy For That Person On Your List Who Saved Your Life ~ #65) The Sea Life ~ Happy Easter The above articles delve a little bit deeper on how I came to be a patient at Mayo Clinic, my experiences traveling from Chicago, Illinois up to Rochester, Minnesota for treatment, and all the way to my new and fabulous life in Jacksonville, Florida. Plus, why my long and challenging month at Pain Rehab changed my life, and continues to change me - to this day. So today, I wanted to pull your attention to what I view and believe, very strongly, are the tools and virtues necessary for living a fruitful and rewarding life with chronic pain. Because, four years later, it’s not just a snap of the fingers and life is amazing - it requires work - constant work - every single day. And one needs tools in order to do this work. So - here are the most vital tools I deem imperative toward continued success and maintenance after leaving rehab: [ Plan ] I plan. And I plan for everything. I plan my day. I plan my week. I plan my next two weeks out, and I strategically and creatively title that plan - “My Two Week Plan.” I plan the month. I plan the year. And, most importantly, I also plan for all these things to NOT go according to this plan. But, at the same time I do all of this plotting and planning and scheming and theorizing... I simply live for today. (And, if that sentence makes any sense to you, please let me know.) [ Purpose ] I live. And I live now. I don’t wait to live. And I don’t count on tomorrow (even though I plan for it). I wear my favorite clothes today (and I don’t save them for a better outing). I burn my favorite candles (and I don’t save them for only when guests come over). I sign up for the class I’ve been aching to take. I paint on all my canvases. I purchase tickets to my favorite play. I buy my coffee on the outside (as Jerry Seinfeld once said). I go to museums. I try all the newest restaurants. I create every single day - and not merely when I have time. I read all the books - of all kinds. I travel. I explore. I look up at the sky - and not down at my phone. I drive with the windows down. And I say hello to strangers, all the time. I know exactly why I am here and exactly what I am supposed to do. And I do it. Now. And I don’t save any of it for the unknown future. Ahhhh, the unknown future. The future on a distant horizon we cannot possibly yet imagine. That brings me straight on up to my next tool. [ Perseverance ] There’s a reason the Mars Rover of 2020 was named Perseverance. My goodness! Can you even imagine the amazing journey that darn little robotic thing went on to get where it is right now? Mars!... Freaking Mars! Do you really even realize how far away Mars really is from us here on Earth? Enough ‘really’s’ already. Without perseverance, there would literally, and really, be zero evidence of humanity on Mars. Or should I say - evidence of Earthlings on Mars. And that’s because the road to Mars is not paved and narrow. There is no defined route to arriving on the Red Planet. We’re making this all up as we go. It’s all foreign territory. And it’s scary. But thrilling. This - this feat - never accomplished before - landing humans on Mars. Who on God's green Earth knows when this will happen? It could take a number of years - a tally of days - a number and amount of time beyond our comprehension right now. And - It will take determination. It will take struggle, and challenges we possibly cannot yet even imagine.. It will take sacrifice. It will take discipline. And it most certainly will take - perseverance. To persevere, means to struggle. To persevere, means to keep going. To persevere, means to face adversity, challenge, pain, hardship, and loss... and to keep going away. To persevere means you know how far away the future is, and to continue onward anway. To persevere, means it’s ok to fail. To persevere, simply means to get back up and try again. So, while I plan for the future... And I live life for today… And if at first I don’t succeed, I try, try, again. This fact brings me to my final bullet point of today’s discussion - Patience. Yes, I live in the moment, while at the same time... I have to have the patience of a freaking saint. [ Patience ] The single most important factor to making it through one thousand four hundred and sixty days of life outside of rehab. Without patience, I wouldn’t be writing this today. Without patience, I would not be celebrating four years strong. Without patience, I would have zero creativity. Without patience, I would be suffering. I’d be pacing, and agonizing, and wondering when in the freaking heck is all of this pain ever really going to go away?... Really. Without patience, I would not be alive. There’s a real and solid reason why there is a saying on this Earth that goes a little something like this: Patience Is A Virtue. That’s because it really and truly is. Patience is NOT the most popular kid in school. People tend to not like Patience. And actually, people tend to despise Patience. Patience is continuously, and unrelentlessly, teased and taunted and bullied. And sadly, Patience gets tortured every single gosh darn day, somewhere on this planet. Yes, Patience is really hard to live with. But Patience is Required for Success. So if you really want to succeed at whatever your goal is, I’d say to simply suck it up, buttercup... And to welcome some good, old-fashioned Patience into your new and modern life. Become friends with Patience. Actually, I'd even go so far as to say to make Patience your very best friend in life... Yeah, Patience is really that important. So while everyone else is beating up Patience in the back alley around the corner from the school yard… YOU - you there, you go ahead and save Patience from that beating. Drag Patience out of the alleyway. And usher Patience straight on into the nurse's office for a solid checkup and mending and a bag of ice to go home with. Then, take Patience home with you. Serve Patience a plate of cookies and milk - almond milk - not cows milk. And ask your mother if Patience can sleep over. Watch your favorite movie with Patience. And then, go ahead and watch a film that Patience likes, that you happen to utterly and totally despise. But suck it up and have some darn patience already. Humor Patience, and watch the movie anyway. You’ll be best friends in no time. Gosh, and at that exact point - Patience will really and truly love you back, too. If you can learn the value of patience, you can learn the secret to life. If you can learn the virtue of patience, you will be exactly where you are meant to be. If you can simply have patience, there is nothing that you cannot do in this world. But gosh, golly, oh jeaz - there is most definitely a secret to being patient - and that is this. if you can accept patience, you can accept your pain. Your struggles, your misfortunes. Your annoyances. Your anger, temper, and all your irritations. Your mind - arguing with itself. Your heading - spinning. Your every breath you take. You can then handle the deck of cards you’ve been dealt. You will learn from this adversity. And that experience will build momentum, and carry you forward, through time. Yes, if you can accept and welcome patience into your life, you’ll be killing it at life too. Because, without patience, you’ll really never know or even possibly imagine where you will be... four years from now.~ *Editorial Note & Disclaimer: All views, opinions, and statements herein are my own. I am not a doctor. I am not trying to save you, and I cannot make your pain go away. I am merely detailing to you my own personal opinions and experiences with the Mayo Clinic as a patient. Each person is unique, and what works for one, will not work for all. I share my story in hopes it will reach someone who may need to hear or see just these exact words at this exact time to push them to get the help they need… right freaking now. Because - sometimes saving yourself, is allowing others to help you save you. If you are in chronic pain, struggling, or severely depressed, I would highly recommend calling the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida to explore treatment options. Their phone number is 904.953.2000.
