 Hey there fellow dreamers, I had just finished our livestream in downtown St. Augustine and said goodbye to y’all, when I came upon this sight. I’ve dreamed of seeing a sea turtle my whole life. And now, after living in Florida for 8 years, spotting sea turtle nests on our walks, and always looking into the water, this truly is a Floridian dream come true… my first time seeing an actual sea turtle, in the wild, out in nature. I was shocked, overcome with joy, and the experience was absolutely magical. If you’ve been with the channel for a while, you know we cover sea turtle nesting season each year. Sea turtles have been a passion of mine, basically, for as long as Florida has been a passion of mine lol. So thanks for sharing in this experience with me. It was a very special moment, and I can hardly believe I caught it on camera. Video 558. #recipe #superbowl #shetlandsheepdog ___  Embarking on a new endeavor. ~ And why saying yes can change your life too: I’ve read a lot in the past about saying no, and when to say no, for self-care purposes. There are seemingly infinite self-help articles, blogs, books, and videos, all about teaching you to learn to say no. Whether its saying no to helping an acquaintance move, driving someone to the airport that you really don’t have the time or desire to drive them to, saying no to a night out when you just want to curl up under a blanket and watch a movie, or saying no to taking on a new project that you can’t wrap your brain around at this point in time. I think, and this is just my very generalized opinion, that humans for the most part no longer have a problem with learning how to say no, and saying so declaratively. I think all those self-care books have done the job they’ve set out to do… and then some. Today, there seems to be absolutely no problems with saying no. You can just say NO, and move on with your life. No big deal. But what about saying yes? What about learning to say yes to something that you would normally just say no to in response? Over two years ago now, I was asked to illustrate a children’s book - it was my first children’s book as an artist. And now, looking back on this decision over two years later, I know that saying yes to this project was truly one of the best decisions of my life. I said yes to this project sight unseen. Simply meaning, I didn’t know the author (Mary S. Holden) at the time. Now, we’re dear friends - of course! But at the time, it began purely as a business transaction. A business transaction that meant the whole world to me. It was faith that told me to say yes. I desperately wanted the project, but didn’t know if the project wanted me. By saying yes, I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. I created thirty two pages of illustrations, and helped bring the author’s lovely characters to life. It was such a pleasure, and an honor, and I’m so glad that Mary said yes, to me, as well. I never dreamed I could become so attached to fictional characters. I never imagined that there would come a day in my life where I would wake up in the morning, grab my cup of coffee, and want to immediately check on my new friends - all hanging out in my art studio. I would run into my studio and say hello to them, to greet the new day ahead. And I would wonder… what should Mrs. Breadsticks wear today? That anticipatory part of the routine… was the most exciting part of the entire process for me. But there was another joyous part of this project that was the best of all. It was in the culmination, and ripple effect of decisions, that saying yes sparked in my life. It was how by saying yes to this project, my life was, once again, completely transformed. Once I said yes to Mrs. Breadsticks, there were an abundance of yes’ that came into my life. I said yes to so many things after that initial yes. A simple change - my studio setup changed (over and over) until I found just the right feng shui arrangement for best work flow. My daily routine changed entirely. My exercise changed. My art changed. My YouTube channel changed immensely. All of this change, in so many ways - too many to mention here. In fact, my art changed so much after the book - which was illustrated completely in acrylic - that I’m almost exclusively working in a new medium right now. I’ve just spent over a full year working in watercolor - something I was too scared, and much too timid, shy and fearful, to try - before my experience of painting Mrs. Breadsticks. And now, watercolor is my life. It’s a dream. And my paintings are so different. And I’m in love with the process of creating art, even more than I ever thought I could be. I even wrote my own children’s book during the course of last year, 2024, and illustrated the entire book (in watercolor) - which will be released this spring exclusively on Amazon. Another fact, I've been so intensely busy living this post-Mrs. Breadsticks life, that I have been too preoccupied to even publish a blog post and post this story until today - many, many months after the book's formal publication date. It actually took me getting seriously ill with pneumonia and bronchitis during the end of 2024 and into practically the whole month of January 2025, to really slow me down, and ‘make’ the time in my schedule to publish a dedicated blog post on my own website on this matter. I am also happy to report I’m on the mend, quickly now, and improving every day. So, naturally, I’m getting this story out into the world this day, before I become ‘too well’ and too busy, once again to tell you all about how Mrs. Breadsticks changed my life. Years from now, I know that I will always remain grateful for Mrs. Breadsticks coming into my life, and for the author asking me to complete this project. Because Mary S. Holden is the singular reason this all happened. But just the same, I know that I will always be grateful - to myself - for having the courage to say yes to Mrs. Breadsticks. Because saying yes did change my life. Video 548. #monday #california #florida ___  Hey there fellow dreamers! I just wanted to give you a quick personal update as it pertains to the rest of this week's livestreams. I'm not feeling very well at all and I'm going to the doctor today. I'm not going to stream tomorrow or Saturday as planned. I think the smart thing would be to stay in from this extremely cold weather - even though you all know how much I want to be outside and breathing that fresh, salty air. We will still be going to Daytona Beach in the future, and I will revisit tomorrow's scheduled trip to a beautiful boardwalk on the St. Johns River, as soon as I feel it would be smart for me to get out there. I'll still be posting videos as normal, the best I can while not feeling well, just not live-streaming as much - as editing videos gives me something to do that I love while also trying to rest. I have some travel for the channel coming up very soon and I want to be better asap. Thoughts on what's coming up - I'm trying to be optimistic here and I will plan for a Monday livestream these next couple Monday's. I also know that whenever I get sick it takes me a very long time to recover - I'm weak, lol. So, we'll aim for Monday and go from there. Maybe I can do a Monday sunrise, and sit on the beach instead of walk, coming up. Here's your homework, lol - grab that piece of paper and a pen. Write down some goals you have for 2025. Divide those goals into one month chunks. Then, divide that month into a two week plan of attack. Getting it on paper is a declaration. Next - is action. What is one baby step you can take today, and over the course of the next two weeks, to help grow that dream into a reality? Put that piece of paper on your refrigerator. I look forward to this week all year long. It’s officially Christmas cookie week 2024, baby! This week we will be making and preparing the cookie dough on Thursday, December 19th. And because we need the dough to set and chill for at least eight hours, we will be doing the actual baking in the oven on Friday, December 20th. These dates have been strategically set… You see, we live over a thousand miles from our family. And we have some family coming down to Florida this Christmas, making the long drive from Chicago in the car, pooch included! They arrive on Saturday, December 21st. And I plan on having a batch of perfectly assembled freshly baked cookies in a holiday cookie tin to hand to them upon their arrival. It’s definitely not every day that we have family here who we can bake for. So I truly am extra excited about this year’s cookies, for that reason. But there’s another reason I’m so very excited. While we do a whole heck of a lot of baking, to my own surprise I have never made peppermint candy cane cookies before. I’ve gladly tasted them every year from friends and relatives, and always wanted to attempt them, but just never have. So, as yet another holiday season is upon us and flying by at the speed of light, I’m also extra excited for the fact that we will be trying something new - together. And, I’m really hoping we can pull this one off, lol. Will there be too much overpowering peppermint taste, drowning out the taste of the cookie? Will there not be enough peppermint taste in each bite? Will the red and white dough bleed together? How many cookies will this dough actually make? Will there be enough for a full tin to give away? And endless other questions and concerns swirl in my mind. But, you know what? None of that really matters. The only important thing that matters here is the act of baking. Togetherness. And our community of dreamers - sharing in the joy of a holiday cookie. Good tidings and cheer, shared with one another throughout the season. My grandfather was a baker for over 40 years. I talk about him a lot, and I miss him even more. But I do believe he instilled my love for baking inside of me. And that special magic that can happen in the kitchen. The feeling of family, and laughter, and getting our hands all messy and sticky. Food, family, friends, fun. The act of making food together, and sharing food together, can really bring people together in spirit as well. And help instill the value of togetherness and community. Baking has become so important to me and my life over these years that I do incorporate baking into my blog here and into my YouTube Channel. I prefer livestreaming the baking process, because that’s where the magic happens, in real time. Last year, we had a flour explosion… even the vacuum had to make an appearance - all before one cookie was ever placed in the oven - we had a royal mess. But really, I do like livestreaming the baking process because it shows in real time how long each step takes, and what the entire process of building a recipe is in real life, mistakes included, silliness too. These photos are from yesterday's (Tuesday, October 8th) livestream (the day before Hurricane Milton) on what was just a 'normal' day at the beach, and a seemingly normal Tuesday. It's so surreal to watch all this happening. I worry for everyone's safety, and wish everyone safe passage through this storm. I ultimately have this YouTube Channel so that it can be a place of community. And maybe anyone going through hard times, or needs a friend, or is in pain, or feels lonely in this world, or maybe you're living your very best life! Either way, and for whatever reason - love and friendship. And to know we have a place here where community and friendship can be alive in the real world. And this right here is part of the real world in 2024. And while we may be communicating through the internet right now, we are still real people, and together a community, nonetheless. It could mean the name of a frozen drink, or it could be a weather forecast. But maybe it just means... Florida. Whatever it means, I thought it was perfection. So here are my treasures I came home with from Amelia Island. We stopped in What-A-Nut after a fabulous lunch downtown Fernandina Beach. I saw this hat in the window, and it was the only one left with that saying printed on it. It was instantly in my hands and off to the register. Two pieces of chocolate later, and it was all simply meant to be. WhatANut is located at: 118 Centre Street Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034 Located about one block from the water, it's a great, small gift shop, with some trinkets and various other treasures. But they also offer fresh baked cookies, ice cream, and nuts. The hat cost $27.95, and the chocolates were roughly $3.00 per candy. Definitely worth a stop in for a sweet treat, or cold ice cream, when you're on Amelia Island. And as I am already dreaming about and pondering my next visit, maybe I'll be checking out the fudge shop next time? Hmmm. But for now, here's wishing everyone some abundant sunshine - and no actual real life hurricanes sent your way. I do wish you the love for the beauty around you, laughter, and spice of life that maybe this hat can represent when I wear it...  What a fabulous intracoastal preserve... We made a really nice 1.90 mile loop here at beautiful Dutton Island Preserve this week! I love taking y'all here at least seasonally now, to help capture the different environment as it changes throughout the year. This was not our first livestream here, and it definitely won't be our last. For one, it's just so refreshing and peaceful. And two, this preserve captures that 'real Florida' feeling quite nicely. Plus, we always see so many different types of plants and foliage, wildlife, as well as the changing tides. There is a quiet serenity when walking above these waters, and out into the salt marsh. It's hard to imagine life here without these beautiful, natural landscapes and waterways. And I think that as the world keeps growing and developing, I'll continue to appreciate these precious places and spaces even more, as life continues on our beautiful planet. Join me on a 30 minute POV sunrise beach walk this morning in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. This day also happens to mark the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America. And with that anniversary, I find myself taking note that my YouTube Channel has a very large, and really, quite substantial historical component to the subject matter that we come across on our adventures together. In fact, just less than two months ago, we came across a beam from the World Trade Center on a livestream I did in downtown Tinley Park, Illinois (linked below). And just last week, while livestreaming in historic downtown Valdosta, Georgia, I came across another September 11th memorial on the front lawn of the Lowndes County Courthouse. And in many, many other live streams we have come across other memorials, statues, dedications, historical markers, and tributes to those who suffered and perished in a variety of battles and wars throughout history. And this includes those who fought and died for our freedoms in America, including those in the wars following and because of September 11th. All of this is not lost on me today - on this very solemn day. And as a YouTuber, where on my livestreams I find myself standing literally LIVE in so many tragic and deeply sad and sacred grounds, to bring you along with me as I venture to these historical places and sites. I do realize we are currently living in a time where we are witness to the fact that as each year now passes, the events of 9/11 are pushed further and further away from modern life, and into the history books of the past. So today, in order to keep the historical significance of this date alive, we’ll discuss some facts and history about September 11th, 2001. And along with that, I invite you to please feel free to share your 9/11 story in the live chat, or in the comments down below if you are on the replay, for others to see and read.
